The material selection of sanitary valves directly affects the safety, durability, and compliance of the system. The mainstream material is austenitic stainless steel, among which 316L is the preferred choice due to its excellent corrosion resistance and good processing ability. This material contains a high proportion of molybdenum element, which can effectively resist pitting corrosion caused by chloride and is suitable for salt or weak acid-base environments. The surface treatment process is equally critical, and the inner surface usually needs to undergo electrolytic polishing treatment to control the roughness Ra value below 0.8 μ m, thereby reducing the adhesion area and improving cleaning efficiency. The outer surface can be mechanically polished or sandblasted to meet both aesthetic and anti-corrosion requirements.

In special applications, higher performance alloy materials such as duplex steel or Hastelloy may be involved for use in extreme corrosive environments. The selection of non-metallic components cannot be ignored, especially sealing materials. The commonly used EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) is suitable for high-temperature water vapor environments, FKM (fluororubber) performs outstandingly in oil resistance and chemical stability, while PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is commonly used for diaphragms or valve seats due to its extremely low friction coefficient and wide chemical compatibility. All materials that come into contact with the medium must pass relevant safety certifications to prove that they do not contain the risk of harmful substances precipitating. The traceability of materials also needs to meet the requirements, and each batch of raw materials should be accompanied by material certification documents to ensure that the entire process from source to finished product is controllable. Reasonable material selection can not only adapt to complex working conditions, but also reduce the overall maintenance cost of the system.
